Snapwise — DIY Snap Fastener Kit with Pliers (100 Snaps)
You sewed the whole bib, and the snap is the part that looks handmade. The claw rings bite straight through the fabric and the pliers press flat, so the closure sits square — and she takes it without ever looking at it.
Yes, with one extra step: press a stamp-sized scrap of interfacing behind the snap so the claws have something firm to bite into.
The free guide walks through knit, canvas and thin cotton.
You get 100 sets, and the pliers do the aiming for you — there's no hammer to miss with.
Practice on a scrap seam first and you'll be square by the second one.
Your order is dispatched within 24–48 hours and typically arrives within 5–9 business days.
You'll get a tracking link the moment it ships, so you can follow it door to door.
Ordering from outside the US?

What you see is what you pay.
The closure was always the part I hated handing over. Now nobody asks about it. Thats it, thats the review.

The part people look at is the part you can't get straight
You sewed the whole bib.
The seams are even, the binding is neat, the fabric was the good stuff you'd been saving.
Then you got to the closure.
A hammered snap sits crooked because you're guessing at the angle and guessing at the force.
Velcro pills within a month and catches on everything in the wash.
And that's exactly where the eye goes when you hand it over.
So you hand it over and say "I made it" in a voice that's half apology, because the one part you couldn't control is the one part that's under her thumb.
Your first snap goes in straight and stays there
The hollow claw rings do the piercing themselves.
No punched hole, no anvil, no aiming a hammer at something the size of a shirt button.
You line up the snap in the jaws, close the pliers, and the pressure lands evenly across the whole ring.
That even press is the entire difference between a snap that sits square and one that sits at eleven o'clock.
Three squeezes and it's seated.
You'll hear when it's fully closed.
Still shut after ten trips through the wash
A snap that's crimped evenly doesn't have a weak side to tear from.
The claws grip the fibres in a full circle instead of pinching one edge.
Copper and iron, painted — not a plastic press-stud that goes chalky by spring.
Wash the bib on Tuesday, on the Tuesday after that, and forty Tuesdays later it still closes with the same click.
That matters most on the things you gave away.
You're not there to fix it.

How it works
Three moves. The whole thing takes about as long as threading a needle.
1Load the snap
Drop the two halves into the jaws — they only fit one way round. The tool holds the alignment so your hands don't have to.
2Squeeze three times
Press, release, press again. Even pressure seats the claws through the fabric without punching a hole first.
3Listen for the click
When it's fully closed you'll hear it change pitch. Open and shut it once to check — then move to the next one.

Rosalinda K.Verified“I'm on my feet all day at work and sewing in the evening is my wind down. The closure step used to end the session because I'd get annoyed and stop. Now I just finish the thing.”Latasha R.Verified“Honestly I bought this for one specific project and assumed it would then sit in a drawer. I've used it on a tote, two cushion covers and a shower curtain since. Didnt expect that.”Margaret H.Verified“My hands arent what they were and buttons had got difficult. I can manage this squeeze fine. Its a proper metal tool, not light, but the leverage means you dont need much strength.”
Made four bibs and my sister asked which shopMade four bibs for my sister's baby shower and she asked which shop I'd ordered them from. I let her guess for a minute before telling her. Thats the whole reason I bought this honestly. The snaps sit flat and even, nothing crooked about them. Before this I was hand sewing buttonholes on bibs which is just miserable work.

Was fully expecting toy pliers at this priceWas fully expecting toy pliers at this price and they're not. Solid hinge, no wobble when you squeeze. About 40 snaps in and there's no play in it yet.

I sew for my grandchildren and buttonholes we...I sew for my grandchildren and buttonholes were killing my hands. This does the same job in under a minute. Took me three practice ones on a scrap to get the feel of it and then they were all fine. My daughter noticed on the last romper and asked if I'd bought it somewhere. Wish I had found this years ago.

Six pairs of jeans in one afternoonHad six pairs of jeans sitting in a basket waiting on buttons for probably four months. Did all of them in one afternoon. I'd had a hammer and die set in the drawer for two years and it bent literally every snap I tried, so I wasnt hopeful. Got this right on the first go, on denim.

Thirty bandanas for the rescue, none came outI volunteer at a dog rescue and made thirty bandanas for the adoption photos. My hand was tired by the end but not one snap came out and those go through commercial washing there. Colors havent gone dull either which I genuinely expected them to.

Works great, wish the case was betterNo complaints about the tool or the snaps at all. The little box they come in is pretty flimsy though, mine split at the corner after a week of being moved around. I just put everything in a tin. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing.

Works beautifully on canvas and cottonWorks beautifully on canvas and heavier cotton with nothing extra needed. I did a whole stack of tote bags for the church sale. The teal ones were the first to go.
Ebony T.Verified06/30/2026
I was worried about the stretchy fabricI was worried it wouldnt hold on a jersey romper because everything I read said knit is a problem. Put a little scrap of interfacing behind it like the guide says and its been through the wash six or seven times now with no issue. So the worry was fair but its solvable.

Finished a project I'd abandoned in 2023There was a quilted jacket in my closet that had been sitting unfinished since 2023 because I could not face doing the closures. Finished it in about twenty minutes. It looks like something from a shop, I'm not being modest, it really does. The snaps are the part I was dreading and now they're the part I like best.

My mother in law asked for the brandMade a set of burp cloths and bibs as a gift and my mother in law asked me what brand they were. I said me. She didnt believe it at first because of the snaps, she said thats the part that usually gives handmade away. Which is exactly right.

Three squeezes and its doneThe rhythm thing in the guide is real. Three squeezes and you hear the pitch change and its seated. I was overthinking it for the first few.

Good tool, colors slightly different than photoThe tool itself is great, I have no notes there. The colors are a bit more muted in person than the listing photo, the pink especially is duller than I pictured. Still perfectly nice, just adjusting expectations. I use the silver ones most anyway.

The snap sits squareI had given up on snaps because every hammered one I ever did sat at an angle. This one the jaws hold it for you so its straight before you even squeeze. Thats the whole difference.
Amara T.Verified06/02/2026
Handed it over without apologizingI always used to hand a handmade thing over with a little apology in my voice, you know, "I made it" like a disclaimer. Did a diaper clutch for a friend last month and just handed it to her. She said it was beautiful and put it straight in her bag. Nobody looked at the closure once.

Instructions were a bit thinThe paper instructions in the box are pretty minimal, mostly pictures. The free guide they email is much better and covers the fabric stuff. Would have been nice to have that in the box. The kit itself is great though, no complaints once I knew what I was doing.
Fern O.Verified05/24/2026
Held up through a hot washWas worried about the paint on the colored ones after washing. Did a hot wash on a bib by accident and they're fine, no chipping or dulling.
Destiny L.Verified05/21/2026
Faster than I thoughtI assumed there'd be a hole punching step because thats how the other kits work. There isnt, the claws go through themselves. Cuts the job in half.

Made a set for each of my niecesMade pinafores for my three nieces for Easter, snaps at the shoulder so they're easy to get on and off. My sister asked where I'd bought them, which is the nicest thing you can hear. She's seen my earlier attempts so she wasn't just being kind.

100 is a lot more than it sounds100 sets sounds like a lot until you start using it, a bib takes four to six. I'm maybe halfway through after two months of steady sewing. Ordered the refill.

I was worried it would be a gimmickI was worried this was just another gimmicky craft thing, I've bought a few of those. Its not, its a real tool that does one job well. The snaps that come with it are decent quality too, not the flimsy kind.

Fixed my husband's work shirtsBought it for sewing but ended up replacing the snaps on eleven of my husbands work shirts that were about to be thrown out. The silver ones match the originals almost exactly. Saved us a fair bit.

good price for what it isCompared a few of these before buying and this seemed fair for what it does, especially with the number of snaps included. The cheaper ones I looked at were hammer sets.

Pet bandanas, no failuresMaking bandanas for my two dogs and a few for friends. Been about three months, dozens of washes, no snaps have pulled out. They're on a double layer of quilting cotton if thats useful to anyone.

Fine, but not quite what I picturedIt works, no arguments there. I think I'd built it up in my head as being more of a one size fits all solution and it isnt quite, thinner fabrics do need the extra reinforcing step so its not always the sixty second job. Also the snaps are a bit smaller than I pictured, which is on me, the size is listed. For heavier fabric its genuinely good. Just not the magic wand I'd imagined.
SnapwiseThanks for the honest write up, Brittany. You're right that thin and stretchy fabrics need that extra scrap of interfacing behind the snap — we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. And the 9.5mm size is the standard for garments, though we understand it reads smaller in person than in photos. Glad it's working well on the heavier pieces.

Doesn't snag like velcroVelcro was my workaround for years and it pills, collects lint and catches on everything else in the wash. This doesnt do any of that. Should have switched ages ago.
Tamiko E.Verified03/30/2026
Used it the night it arrivedUsed it the same night it arrived, no setup or figuring out. Did a curtain tie back to practice and then went straight to the real project.
Deb R.Verified03/22/2026
Not sure this is for leatherI wanted to use this on some leather pieces for a bag I'm making and it just doesn't go through properly, the claws bend before they get through. Maybe I'm meant to punch a hole first with something else but then whats the point of it doing the piercing. I've used it on some cotton since and that was fine so I know the tool works. Just not what I needed it for I suppose.
SnapwiseSorry this wasn't the right fit for your leather project, Deb. You're right that leather needs a punched hole first — the claws are designed to pierce woven fabric, and thick hide is past what they'll go through. We should make that clearer up front. Please do get in touch with our support team, we're happy to help sort this out for you.

Would love more color optionsReally pleased with it overall. My only wish is that there were more colors in the mix, theres a lot of silver and black and I use the brighter ones most. Would happily pay for a pack of just the colored ones.

Questions, answered
knit, canvas, thin cotton?
— Canvas and medium cotton hold with nothing extra.
Stretchy knit and thin fabric need a stamp-sized scrap of interfacing pressed behind the snap so the claws have something firm to grip — that's a thirty-second step and it's the first thing the free guide covers.
Always test on a scrap of your project fabric first.
There's no hammer to misjudge, so the usual way beginners ruin snaps doesn't apply here.
Do two or three on a scrap seam to learn the squeeze, then go to the real piece.
You have 100 sets, so a few practice ones cost you nothing.
Metal body with a metal hinge, 127mm long.
They do the crimping work themselves — the alignment is built into the jaws, so you're not holding the snap steady with your other hand.
The snaps are metal with a painted finish, made for garments that get washed.
Dry them properly like any metal fastening and they keep their colour.
The silver finish is the closest match if you're replacing snaps on something existing.
